Kenya announces 8 new coronavirus deaths, 104 new infections and 74 recoveries
Kenya has announced 104 new cases of the novel coronavirus, pushing the total number of cases in the country so far to 35,460.
The new cases are from a sample pool of 2885 tests carried out across the country in the last 24 hours.
Since the pandemic was first reported in the country in March, 481,982 coronavirus tests have been carried out.
The new cases include 3 foreigners and 101 Kenyans aged between 1 and 75-years-old who are further classified into 33 females and 71 males.
The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi (18), Mombasa (16), Kisumu (13), Embu and Laikipia (11) cases each, Murang’a (6), Narok and Kericho (4) cases each, Kiambu, Meru, Machakos, and Nakuru (3) cases each, Taita Taveta and Uasin Gishu (2) cases each, Bomet Kajiado, Kwale, Lamu, and Vihiga (1) case each.
In Nairobi, the (18) cases are distributed as follows: Dagoretti North (2), Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kamukunji, Kasarani, Kibra, Langata,
Makadara, Mathare, Roysambu, Ruaraka, Starehe and Westlands (1) case each.
In Mombasa, the (16) cases are distributed as follows: Mvita (10) and Changamwe (6).
The (13) cases in Kisumu are in: Kisumu West (9), Kisumu Central (3), and Kisumu East (1).
In Embu, all the (11) cases are in Manyatta while in Laikipia , all the (11) cases are in Laikipia West.
In Muranga, the (6) cases are in Maragwa and Kiharu which have (4) and (2) cases respectively.
The Ministry of Health has also announced 74 new recoveries; 41 were under the home-based program while 33 were discharged from various hospitals.
The total number of recoveries so far is 21,557.
Kenya has also announced 8 new coronavirus fatalities, pushing the total number of deaths so far to 607.
