Kenya coronavirus caseload hits 90K as 16 more succumb to virus
The Kenya coronavirus caseload hit 90,000 after 644 mote people tested positive for the virus.
In the last 24 hours, 16 more patients also succumbed to the disease raising the country’s death toll to 1,568.
“The cumulative tests are now 952,134. From the cases 619 are Kenyans while 25 are foreigners. In terms of gender tO7 are males and 237 females. The youngest is a one-year old baby, while the oldest is 90,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement.
Currently, there are 994 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide with 7,848 on Home Based Isolation and Care.
55 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 27 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 27 on supplemental oxygen. 1 is on observation.
Another 53 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 46 are in the general wards. 7 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
From the latest positive cases established over the last 24 hours, distribution by counties is as follows;
Nairobi 158, Kiambu 69, Mombasa 67, Murang’a 56, Taita Taveta 36, Nakuru 31, Meru 26, Bungoma 19, Laikipia 19, Busia 17, Kakamega 15, Makueni 13, Uasin Gishu 12, Tharaka Nithi 11, Jericho 11, Kilifi 10, Lamu 9, Kajiado 9, Kitui 7, Bonnet 7, Kirinyaga 7, Isiolo 5, Machakos 5, Kisumu 4, Turkana 4, Kwale 4, Kisii 4, Nyeri 2, Nandi 2, Garissa 1, Embu 1, Baringo 1, West Pokot 1 and Siaya 1.
In terms of sub county distribution the 158 cases in Nairobi, are from Lang’ata (36), Westlands (16), Ruaraka (1 1), Kasarani and Nakadara (10) cases each, Kibra and Roysambu (9) cases each, Dagoretti North and Kamukunji (7) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Embakasi East, Nathare and Starehe (6) cases each, Embakasi South and Embakasi West (5) cases each and Embakasi North (3).
In Kiambu the 69 cases are from 3uja (19), Ruiru (11), Kabete (9}, Thika (8), Kiambaa and Kikuyu (6) cases each, Kiambu Town (5), Githunguri (4) and Gatundu South (1).
In Mombasa, the 67 cases are from Mvita (43), Jomvu (9), Kisauni (7), Nyali (6) and Changamwe (2). In Murang’a the 56 cases are from Kiharu (32), Maragua (12), Kangema (6), Kandara (4) and Mathioya (2). In Taita Taveta all the 36 cases are from Voi. In Nakuru the 31 cases are from Naivasha (17), Nakuru West (8), Nakuru East (5), and Gilgil (1).
In Meru, the 26 cases are from Imenti North (11), Imenti South (9), Imenti Central (5) and Igembe South (1). In Bungoma all the 19 cases are from Kanduyi, while the 19 cases in Laikipia, are from Laikipia East (10) and Laikipia West (9).
In Busia, the 17 cases are from Matayos (10), Butula (3), Teso North and Teso South (2) cases each. In Kakamega the 15 cases are from Likuyani (5), Numias West (3), Khwisero and Lurambi (2) cases each, Butere, Nalava and Shinyalu (1) case each.
In Makueni, the 13 cases are from Makueni (11), Kibwezi West (2). In Uasin Gishu, the 12 cases are from Ainabkoi (8)f Kesses (2), Moiben and Turbo (1) cases each.
In Tharaka Nithi, the 11 cases are from Chuka (7), Igambang’ombe and Tharaka South (2) cases each.
In Kericho, the 11 cases are from Ainamoi (8), Belgut (2) and Kipkelion East (1). In Kilifi, the 10 cases are from Kilifi North (6), Kaloleni and Nalindi (2) cases each.
In Lamu, all the nine cases are from Lamu West, while in Kajiado, the 9 cases are from Kajiado North (8) and Kajiado East (1).
The seven cases in Kitui, are from Kitui West (3), Kitui Central and Mwingi Central (2) cases each, the 7 cases in Bomet are from Bomet Central, while all the 7 cases in Kirinyaga are from Kirinyaga Central.
In Isiolo, the five cases are from Isiolo Town while the five cases in Machakos, are from Machakos Town (3), Athi River and Kangundo (1) case each.
The four cases in Kisumu are from Kisumu Central, the four cases in Turkana are from Turkana West (3) and Turkana Central (1), the 4 cases in Kwale, are from Msambweni while the 4 cases in Kisii are from Kitutu Chache South (3) and Bonchari (1).
In Nyeri, the two cases are from Mathira East and Nyeri Central (1 case each) while in Nandi, the two cases are from Chesumei and Emgwen (1 case each).
The single cases are from Garissa Town; Manyatta (Embu); Baringo Central; West Pokot and Rarieda (Siaya).
