Kenya coronavirus cases rise to 34,057 as 263 test positive

263 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Kenya, among them 4 foreigners, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Sunday.

The cases which include 180 males and 83 females aged between 1 and 83-years-old push the country’s total caseload to 34,057.

The cases were from a pool of 4,424 samples and push the total number of samples tested so far to 450,146.

The cases are spread out across the country as follows:

Nairobi (81), Kiambu (26), Embu (20), Makueni (18), Nakuru (15), Nyeri (13), Taita Taveta (10), Busia (10), Mombasa (9), Garissa (8), Kajiado (7), Kisii (6), Tana River (5), Migori (4), Machakos (3), Lamu (3), Narok (3), Kisumu (2), Baringo (2)Bomet (2), Laikipia, Meru and Muranga (2) cases each, Siaya, Vihiga, Isiolo, and Kiifi (1) case each.

Kenya has also announced 98 recoveries, pushing the total number of recoveries so far to 19,688.

79 of the new recoveries were from patients under the home-based care system while 19 were discharged from various hospitals.

Further, the Ministry of Health announced 2 new coronavirus fatalities.

So far, Kenya has recorded 574 coronavirus deaths.
