IPSOS: Jubilee supporters say Kenya headed in right direction

Research firm IPSOS has revealed a survey showing that Jubilee supporters applaud how government is handling issues of corruption and the Opposition.

However, their NASA counterparts indicate that the country is heading in the wrong direction, the report adds.

According to Tom Wolf, lead researcher at IPSOS, Jubilee supporters felt that the government had stepped up the fight against corruption while NASA supporters felt that the vice had increased over the last three months.

IPSOS said Jubilee supporters singled out the biggest challenge the government will face over the next five years is controlling the opposition, something that is of less concern to NASA supporters.

“Jubilee supporters are looking over the fence and are a bit more worried about the opposition supporters who are looking at themselves in the mirror,” said Mr. Wolf.

80 percent of the surveys by IPSOS were done before the handshake of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga, so it could not have affected the outcome, he added.
