Kenya Marks 16th Anniversary of Bomb Attack

The blast that was linked to the Al Qaeda terror group claimed the lives of more than 250 people.

Over 5,000 other people were injured in the attack.

The terrorists attacked the US embassy by ramming a vehicle loaded with explosives to the building situated at the junction of Moi and Haile Sellasie avenues.

The attack was carried out simultaneously with another at the US embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

A US court recently ruled that embassy staff who were injured and relatives of employees who died will be compensated.

One of the survivors of the blast who contracted HIV while trying to rescue victims of the terror attack was awarded 625 million shillings.
