KPA boss Catherine Mturi-Wairi resigns
Embattled Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Catherine Mturi-Wairi has resigned.
In a letter seen by Citizen Digital dated June 8, Mrs. Mturi-Wairi cited pursuit of personal interests as her reason for vacating office.
“I further wish to register my willingness and availability to serve H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta and the people of Kenya in any capacity that deem fit,” read the letter in part.
This comes barely a week after the High Court suspended the decision by the Board to remove Mturi-Wairi until a case filed was heard and determined.
A petition filed by Mr Chengo Kenga termed the Board’s decision as illegal saying that majority of their terms of office had lapsed.
The Board had appointment of Daniel Manduku to the MD position in an acting capacity.
Activist Okiya Omtatah had also filed a similar petition terming the decision to remove Mturi-Wairi as a nullity.
Mrs. Mturi-Wairi was appointed on July 12, 2016 having served in an acting capacity for five months.
