Kenya records 129 new COVID-19 cases, recoveries

The Ministry of Health has announced 129 new COVID-19 cases, tested from a sample size of 5,091 tested in the last hours.

The total number of confirmed cases has hit 99,898 while the total of samples tested so far is 1,153, 121.

From the cases, 108 are Kenyans while 21 are foreigners; 79 are male while 50 are females.

The youngest patient is a three-month-old infant while the oldest is 83.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 81, Kiambu 8, Mombasa 8, Siaya 7, Nakuru 5, Kajiado 4, Kilifi 4, Uasin Gishu 3, Kitui 3.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 81 cases in Nairobi are from Lang’ata (13), Westlands (8), Ruaraka (7), Embakasi East, Kibra and Makadara (6) cases each, Dagoretti North, Kamukunji, and Starehe (5) cases each, Embakasi West and Mathare (4) cases each, Embakasi North and Roysambu (3) cases each, Dagoretti South and Embakasi Central (2) cases each, Embakasi South and Kasarani (1) case each.

In Kiambu, the 8 cases are from Ruiru (3), Lari (2), Gatundu South, Githunguri and Thika (1) case each.

In Mombasa, the 8 cases are from Mvita (3), Likoni (2), Jomvu, Kisauni and Nyali (1) case each. In Siaya, the 7 cases are from Ugunja (4) and Rarieda (3).

In Nakuru, the 5 cases are from Nakuru East (3), Naivasha and Subukia (1) case each.

In Kajiado, the 4 cases are from Kajiado North (3) and Kajiado east (1).

In Kilifi, the 4 cases are from Magarini (3) and Rabai (1). In Uasin Gishu, all the 3 cases are from Ainabkoi.

In Kitui the 3 cases are from Kitui Central, Kitui East and Kitui west (1) case each. In Turkana the 2 cases are all from Turkana West.

The case in Homabay is from Homabay Town, the case in Kisii is from Kitutu Chache South, the case in Machakos is from Athi River and the case in Meru is from Imenti North.

According to the Ministry of Health, 70 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours,pushing the total of recoveries so far, to 82,936.

The total number of fatalities stands at 1,740.
