Kenya records 173 new coronavirus cases, 186 recoveries and 2 deaths

Kenya’s total of confirmed coronavirus cases have hit 102,221 after 173 more people tested positive from a sample of 3,784 tested in the last 24 hours.

In a statement sent to media houses on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health said Kenya has conducted 1,223, 827 tests since March 2020.

From the cases, 153 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners; 111 are male while 62 are female.

Nairobi 133, Mombasa 7, Uasin Gishu 5, Kiambu 4, Nakuru 4, Machakos 3, Makueni 3, Migori 3, Kajiado 2, Kericho 2, Kilifi 2, Kisumu 2, Kakamega 1, Homa Bay 1 and Siaya 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 133 cases in Nairobi are from Dagoretti North (18), Lang’ata (14), Kibra (13), Embakasi West (10), Embakasi East, Kamukunji, Starehe and Westlands (9) cases each, Embakasi Central and Mathare (7) cases each, Ruaraka (6), Embakasi South, Kasarani and Makadara (5) cases each, Embakasi North and Roysambu (3) cases each, Dagoretti South (1).

In Mombasa the 7 cases are from Mvita (4), Changamwe, Jomvu and Kisauni (1) case each.

In Uasin Gishu all the 5 cases are from Ainabkoi. In Kiambu the 4 cases are from Juja, Kabete, Kiambu Town and Kikuyu with (1) case each. In Nakuru the 4 cases are from Nakuru East (2), Naivasha and Njoro (1) case each.

In Machakos all the 3 cases are from Machakos Town while in Makueni all the 3 cases are from Makueni.

In Migori the 3 cases are from Rongo (2) and Suna East (1). The 2 cases in Kajiado are all from Kajiado North, the 2 cases in Kericho are all from Belgut, the 2 cases in Kilifi are from Kilifi North and Malindi with (1) case each and the 2 cases in Kisumu are all from Kisumu Central.

The case in Kakamega is from Lurambi, the case in Homa Bay is from Homa Bay Town and the case in Siaya is from Rarieda.

A total of 186 patients have also recovered from the diseasein the last 24 hours; 163 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care while 23 are from various health facilities.

Total recoveries now stand at 84,728.

At the same time, the Health Ministry has announced two more deaths from the virus. The country’s deathtoll now stands at 1,791.
