Kenya records 183 new coronavirus cases, 5 deaths and 82 recoveries

183 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Kenya, pushing the tally of confirmed cases to 36,576, the Ministry of Heath said in a statement on Thursday.

The new cases are from 4188 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

14 of the new cases are foreign nationals while the rest are Kenyans aged between 8 months and 80 years old.

Further, MoH announced that 131 of the new cases are male whereas 52 are female.

The new cases are distributed across the counties as follows: Nairobi 54, Kisumu 26, Mombasa 20, Trans Nzoia 16, Kericho 11, Nakuru 10, Kisii 7, Machakos 6, Meru and Turkana 5, Lamu, Nyeri, Siaya and Kiambu 3 cases each, Kajiado, Busia, Homa Bay, Kilifi and Samburu 2 cases each.

Kakamega and Embu also recorded 1 case each.

82 people have also recovered from the disease; 33 being people who were under the home-based care system.

49 others were discharged from various hospitals across the country.

The new coronavirus recoveries push the total number of recoveries so far to , 23611.

Kenya has also lost five more patients to the disease, pushing the total number of fatalities so far to 642.
