Kenya records 199 new coronavirus cases, 5 deaths and 485 recoveries

The Ministry of Health has announced 199 new coronavirus infections, tested from a sample of 2,416.

The new cases bring to 88,579, the total number of confirmed cases in the country and 934,215, the total number of samples tested so far.

From the cases, 177 are Kenyans while 22 are foreigners; 123 are male while 76 are females.

The youngest patient is a three-year-old baby while the oldest is 90.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows:Nairobi 77, Mombasa 21, Busia 20, Uasin Gishu 19, Meru 11, Kiambu 9, West Pokot 7, Kilifi 7, Turkana 5, Laikipia 4, Narok 4, Kajiado 4, Murang’a 3, Kakamega 2, Nakuru 1, Kisurnu 1, Embu 1, Machakos 1, Siaya 1 and Kwale 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 77 cases in Nairobi, are from Lang’ata (11), Dagoretti North (10), Westlands (8), Starehe (7), Embakasi South (5), Embakasi Central, Kasarani, Kibra, Makadara and Mathare (4) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East and Roysambu (3) cases each, Embakasi North, Kamukunji and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Embakasi West (1).

In Mombasa, the 21 cases are from Mvita (9), Nyali (5), Jomvu (3), Kisauni and Likoni (2) cases each. In Busia, the 20 cases are from Matayos (15) and Teso North (5). In Uasin Gishu, the 19 cases are from Ainabkoi (12), Turbo (4), Kapseret (2) and Kesses (1). In Meru, the 11 cases are from Igembe Central (4), Imenti South (3), Buuri and Imenti North (2) cases each.

In Kiambu, the 9 cases are from Kiambu Town and Thika (3) cases each, Githunguri, Juja and Kikuyu (1) case each.

In West Pokot, all the 7 cases are from West Pokot. In Kilifi, the 7 cases are from Malindi (6) and Kaloleni (1). In Turkana, the 5 cases are from Turkana West (3) and Turkana Central (2).

The 4 cases in Laikipia, are all from Laikipia East, the 4 cases in Narok, are all from Narok East, and the 4 cases in Kajiado, are from Kajiado North (3) and Kajiado East (1). In Murang’a, the 3 cases are from Maragua (2) and Gatanga (1), while in Kakamega, the 2 cases are from Lurambi and Malava (1) case each.

The case in Nakuru, is from Nakuru East, the case in Kisumu, is from Kisumu Central, the case in Embu is from Manyatta, the case in Machakos, is from Athi River, the case in Siaya, is from Bondo and the case in Kwale is from Msambweni. 

Meanwhile, 485 patients have recovered; 416 from the Home-Based Care and Isolation and 69 from various hospitals across the country.

The total recoveries now stand at 69,414.

At the same time, the total number of fatalities has hit 1,531 after 5 patients succumbed.
