Kenya records 210  new coronavirus infections, 7 deaths

The Ministry of Health has announced 210 new coronavirus infections tested from a sample of 3,604 in the last 24 hours.

The new infections consist 200 Kenyans and 10 foreigners.

The cases push country’s coronavirus case load to 38,378 from the 545,019 samples tested since March.

127 of the new cases are males while 83 are females; the youngest is a six-month-old infant while the oldest is 91.

Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 55, Kericho 36, Kitui 24, Kiambu 21, Nakuru 19 Mombasa 15, Kisumu 10, Kisii 8, Kilifi 6, Turkana 5, Embu 4, Wajir 2, Machakos 1, Kakamega 1, Kwale 1, Nandi 1 and Kajiado 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; the 55 cases in Nairobi, are from Starehe (7), Embakasi East and Westlands (5) cases each, Embakasi South, Kasarani and Roysambu (4) cases each, Dagoretti North, Embakasi Central, Makadara and Ruraraka (3) cases each,
Dagoretti South, Embakasi North, Embakasi West, Kamukunji, Kibra, Langata and Mathare (2) cases each.

In Kericho, the 36 cases are from Ainamoi (35) and Belgut (1).

In Kiambu, the 21 cases are from Lari (9), Thika (3) Kabete and Limuru (2) cases each, Githunguri, Juja, Kiambu Town, Kikuyu and Ruiru with (1) case each.

In Nakuru, the 19 cases are from Nakuru East (11), Nakuru West (3), Nakuru North (2), Kuresoi South, Rongai and Subukia with (1) case each.

In Mombasa, the 15 cases are from Jomvu (7), Mvita (4), Kisauni (3) and Likoni (1).

In Kisumu, the 10 cases are from Kisumu Central (5), Kisumu West (3) and Kisumu East (2). In Kisii, the 8 cases are from Nyaribari Chache (4), Bobasi and Kitutu Chache South (2) cases each. In Kilifi, the 6 cases are from Magarini (5) and Kilifi South (1), while

The 5 cases in Turkana, are from Turkana West (4) and Turkana Central (1).

The 24 cases in Kitui are from Kitui Central.

The Health Ministry also announced 59 new recoveries; 49 being patients who were under the home-based care system while 10 were discharged from various hospitals.

Kenya’s coronavirus death toll also rose to 707 after 7 patients succumbed between Monday and Tuesday.
