Kenya records 226 new COVID-19 cases,75 recoveries and 6 deaths

The Ministry of Health has announced 226 new COVID-19 infection in the country, tested from a sample of 4,606 in the last 24 hours.

In a statement on Friday, the Ministry said the total number of cases had hit 103,84 while the total of samples tested had hit 1,258,624.

From the cases, 165 are Kenyans while 61 are foreigners; 132 are males while 94 are females.

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi 142, Kiambu 16, Nakuru 14, Machakos 9, Uasin Gishu 9, Laikipia 6, Mombasa 5, Meru 3, Nyeri 3, Bomet 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Garissa 2, Kajiado 2, Kilifi 2, Kwale 2, Turkana 2, Narok 1, Nyamira 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Kakamega 1 and Kericho 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 142 cases in Nairobi are fro Dagoretti North (26), Westlands (20), Kibra (14), Kamukunji (12), Embakasi South and Starehe (9) cases each, Embakasi North (7), Lang’ata, Makadara, Roysambu and Ruaraka (6) cases each, Embakasi East (5), Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central and Mathare (4) cases each, Embakasi West (3) and Kasarani (1).

In Kiambu the 16 cases are from Ruiru (4), Kiambaa and Kikuyu (3) cases each, Kiambu Town, Lari and Thika (2) cases each. In Nakuru the 14 cases are from Njoro (5), Nakuru East (4), Gilgil and Nakuru West (2), Subukia (1).

In Machakos the 9 cases are from Machakos Town (5), Athi River (3) and Mwala (1).

The (9) cases in Uasin Gishu are from Ainabkoi (7) and Turbo while in Laikipia all the 6 cases are from Laikipia East.

In Mombasa the 5 cases are from Mvita (3), Kisauni and Nyali (1) case each while in Meru the 3 cases are from Imenti Central (2) and Imenti South (1).

The case in Narok is from Narok North, the case in Nyamira is from Manga, the case in Trans Nzoia is from Saboti, the case in Kakamega is from Mumias East and the case in Kericho is from Ainamoi.

The Ministry of Health also announced 75 new recoveries and 6 more deaths pushing the total of recoveries and fatalities to 85,512 and 1,813 respectively.
