Kenya records 283 new COVID-19 cases, 66 recoveries and 6 deaths

Kenya’s total coronavirus cases have risen to 103,615 after 283 people tested positive for the disease from a sample of 4,822 tested in the last 24 hours.

In a statement to media houses on Thursday, the Ministry of Health said the new infections comprise 256 Kenyans and 27 foreigners.

The new infections further comprise 204 males and 79 females aged between 1 and 80 years old. 

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi 196, Busia 16, Kiambu 14, Mombasa 11, Nakuru 8, Uasin Gishu 6, Kajiado 5, Machakos 5, Kilifi 4, Kisumu 4, Kwale 3, Makueni 3, Homa bay 2, Taita Taveta 2, Murang’a 2, Siaya 1 and Migori 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 196 cases in Nairobi are from Westlands (25), Lang’ata (24), Dagoretti North (21), Starehe (17), Embakasi West (14), Makadara (11), Kamukunji and Kibra (10) cases each, Embakasi South, Kasarani and Mathare (9) cases each, Ruaraka (8), Embakasi Central and Roysambu (7) cases each, Embakasi East (6), Dagoretti South (5), Embakasi North (4).

In Busia the 16 cases are from Matayos (15) and Teso North (1).

In Kiambu the 14 cases are from Ruiru (7), Limuru (3), Kiambaa, Kikuyu, Lari and Thika (1) case each.

In Mombasa the 11 cases are from Mvita (4), Changamwe, Jomvu and Kisauni (2) cases each, Nyali (1). In Nakuru the 8 cases are from Njoro (5), Naivasha (2) and Nakuru West (1).

In Uasin Gishu the 6 cases are from Ainabkoi (5) and Turbo (1).

In Kajiado the 5 cases are from Kajiado North (3), Kajiado East and Loitokitok (1) case each.

In Machakos all the 5 cases are from Athi River while in Kilifi the 4 cases are from Rabai (2), Kilifi North and Malindi (1) case each.

In Kisumu the 4 cases are from Kisumu Central (3) and Kisumu East (1).

The Ministry of Health also announced 66 new recoveries and 6 new deaths, raising the total number of recoveries and fatalities to 85,457 and 1,807 respectively.
