Kenya records 4 new coronavirus deaths, 190 positive cases and 395 recoveries

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced 190 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the country, tested from a sample of 4,609 between Thursday and Friday.

The new cases push the total number of cases reported in the country so far to 35,793 and the cumulative number of samples tested to 490,445.

182 of the new cases are Kenyans while 8 are foreigners aged between 1 and 85 years.

The new infections comprise 136 males and 54 females.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi 65, Kitui 27, Mombasa 16, Uasin Gishu 13, Embu 10, Kisii 9, Garissa, Kajiado and Kiambu (6) cases each, Nakuru, Meru, Kericho and Narok (4) cases each, Kisumu, Trans Nzoia, Bomet and Busia (2) cases each Murang’a, Bungoma, Kakamega and Kilifi (1) case each.

In Nairobi, the cases are from: Roysambu 14, Dagoretti North and Langata (8) cases each, Embakasi East and Starehe (5) cases each, Embakasi South and Westlands (4) cases each, Embakasi West (3), Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Kamukunji, Kibra and Makadara (2) cases each.

Embakasi North, Kasarani, Mathare and Ruaraka close Naorobi’s cases with (1) case each.

In Kitui, the 27 cases are from Kitui West (24), Mwingi Central (2) and Kitui Rural (1).

In Mombasa, the 16 cases are from Jomvu (6), Mvita (4), Changamwe and Kisauni (3) cases each.

The ministry also announced 395 new recoveries; 116 from the home-based care system and 279 from various hospitals.

The total number of recoveries since the pandemic was first reported in the country is 22,442.

At the same time, the country has recorded 4 new coronavirus deaths, pushing the total number of fatalities to 616.
