Kenya records 5 new COVID-19 deaths, 143 positive cases and 490 recoveries

The Ministry of Health has announced 143 new cases of COVID-19; from 3854 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases push the total number of positive cases confirmed so far to 35,603 and the cumulative number of tests done so far to 485,836.

The new infections comprise 129 Kenyans and 14 foreigners aged between 9 months and 83 years.

In terms of gender, 85 are male while 58 are female.

The cases are distributed across the counties as follows: Nairobi (35), Kitui (23), Mombasa, Garissa, Kiambu and Nakuru (9) cases each, Kiifi (8), Turkana (7), Kajiado and Machakos (5) cases each, Kisii and Kisumu (4) cases each, Embu (3) Uasin Gishu, Makueni, Transzoia and Nyeri (2) cases each, Migori, Busia, Isiolo, Taita Taveta and Meru (1) case each.

In Nairobi, the 35 cases are distributed as follows: Westlands (7) Makadara (6), Dagoretti North (5), Kasarani and Starehe (3) cases each, Embakasi North, Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Kibra and Ruaraka (2) cases each, and Roysambu (1).

All the 23 Kitui cases are in Kitui West.

In Mombasa the nine cases are in: Kisauni (8) and Mvita (1).
In Garissa, the (9) cases are in: Dadaab, Fafi and Garissa Town (3) cases each.

The 9 cases in Kiambu are in Kabete, Kiambaa, Kiambu Town and Ruiru with (2) cases each, and (1) case from Kikuyu.

Nakuru’s 9 cases are from Nakuru (6) Nakuru East (2) and Nakuru West (1).

The Ministry of Health has also announced 490 new recoveries and 5 fatalities which push the total number of recoveries to 22,047 and the total number of fatalities to 612.
