Kenya records 52 more coronavirus cases, total now at 1161

52 people tested positive for the coronavirus between Thursday and Friday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The new cases are from 2567 samples tested in the last 24 hours and pushes the tally of confirmed cases to 1161.

Kenya has so far tested 55,074 people since the pandemic was first reported in the country.

At the same time, 5 people have been discharged from various hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 380.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi (23), Mombasa (7), Busia (7), Kwale (5), Kajiado (4), Nakuru (2), Kiambu (1), Taita Taveta (1), Kilifi (1) and Transzoia (1).

In Nairobi, the cases were recorded in the Estates as follows: Kibra (8), Langata (3), Kamukunji (2), Dagoretti North (2), Embakasi East (2), Embakasi South (1), Embakasi West (1), Kasarani (1), Starehe (1) and Roysambu (1).

One person who has been in mandatory quarantine also tested positive.

In Mombasa, the cases are distributed as follows: Jomvu (4), Mvita (2) and Nyali (1).

In Busia the cases were recorded in the following areas: Teso South (4), Teso North 2) and Matayos (1).

All the 5 cases in Kwale are from Msambweni.

The cases in Kajiado are from: Kajiado Central (2), Kajiado West (1) and Loitokitok (1).

In Nakuru, the cases are from: Naivasha (1) and Rongai (1).

Kiambu Town, Rabai in Kilifi, Trans Nzoia East, and Taita Taveta have recorded one case each.
