Kenya records 8 new COVID-19 deaths as cases hit 100,773

The Ministry of Health has announced 98 new COVID-19 infections, tested from a sample of 3,379 in the last 24 hours.

In a statement sent to media houses on Sunday, the Ministry said the total of confirmed cases had hit 100,773 whilst the total of samples tested hit 1,186,951.

12 foreigners are among the new infections which comprise 82 male and 16 females aged between 10 and 85 years.

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows:

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 86, Meru 2, Mombasa 2, Nakuru 2, Busia 1, Kajiado 1, Kiambu 1, Kisumu 1, Machakos 1 and Nyeri 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 86 cases in Nairobi are from Starehe (48), Westlands (9), Dagoretti North (7), Kibra (3), Embakasi , Embakasi East, Embakasi West, Makadara, Mathare and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Kamukunji, Kasarani, Lang’ata and Roysambu (1) case each.

In Meru all the 2 cases are from Imenti North while in Mombasa, the 2 cases are all from Mvita.

In Nakuru the 2 cases are from Naivasha and Nakuru East (1) case each while in Bungoma, the 1 case is from Matayos.

The case in Kisumu is from Kisumu Central, the case in Machakos is from Machakos Town and the case in Nyeri is from Nyeri Central.

The Ministry of Health also announced 52 new recoveries; 29 from various health facilities and 23 from the Home-Based Care and Isolation.
