Kenya records 932 new COVID-19 cases, positivity rate  at 9.9pc

Kenya’s total of confirmed, positive COVID-19 infections have hit 233,801, following a report of 932 new infections on Friday.

According to a Ministry of Health statement, the new infections, with a positivity rate of 9.9 percent , were tested from 9,424samples in the last one day.

So far, Kenya has conducted at least 2,352,869 COVID-19

The youngest patient according to the Ministry is a 11-month-old infant while the oldest is 100years.

“From the cases 909 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners. 473 males while 459 are females,” the Ministry said on Friday

Nairobi leads with the most new infections with 282 while Kiambu comes second, recording 91 new infections.

In the rest of the country, the infections are spread out as follows: Kitui 66, Nakuru 65, Kajiado 62, Murang’a 46, Marsabit 32, Machakos 29, Garissa 25, Nyandarua 21, Tharaka Nithi 20, Isiolo 17, Mandera 14, Turkana 13, Uasin Gishu 11, Mombasa 11, Laikipia 11, Meru 10, Busia 10, Kakamega 9, Kisii 9, Tana River 8, Lamu 8, Homa Bay 6, Kericho 6, Bungoma 5, Taita Taveta 5, Nyeri 5,

Kilifi 5, Makueni 5, Migori 4, Wajir 4, Elgeyo Marakwet 3, Embu 3, Kisumu 3, Nandi 2, Narok 2, Siaya 1, Trans Nzoia 1, West Pokot 1 and Bomet 1.

Meanwhile, 1,457 patients have recovered from the disease in the last one day.

“1,309 were from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 148 are from various health facilities countrywide,” the statement reads

At the same time Kenya’s death toll from the disease has hit 4,666 following a report of 31 new deaths.

“One of them in the last 24 hours while 30 are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in July and August 2021,” the Health Ministry added
