Kenya signs education agreement with  Israel

The Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Israel that will provide a framework of collaboration with a view of improving delivery of education services to children in basic education institutions.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Education, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, signed the MoU on behalf of the Kenyan government with Israel Ambassador to Kenya, Yahel Vilan.

The two-year engagement will entail teacher professional development, education for sustainable development, integration of ICT in education.

The statement noted that Dr. Matiang’i thanked the Israel government for the support it is giving Kenya, particularly in education.

“He said the government commitment is to ensure that the education learners got from schooling was for globe and not simply for Kenyan needs.”

“He said the government had plans to take broadband to schools, saying this will enhance capacity to deliver content digitally,” said Matiang’i.

Ambassador Vilan said Israel had a long-standing friendship with Kenya, noting collaboration in education was one of the many areas his government is involved with Kenya.
