Kenya, Tanzania agree to lift trade restrictions

Kenya and Tanzania have agreed to remove trade restrictions on several products from either country following successful talks between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli.

The Foreign Affairs ministers of the two countries Ambassador Amina Mohamed and Augustine Mahiga made the announcement in Nairobi on Sunday, July 23 following the High Level decision.

Kenya agreed to lift import restrictions on wheat flour and liquefied petroleum gas from Tanzania.

On the other hand, Tanzania agreed to lift trade restrictions on milk, milk products and cigarettes manufactured in Kenya.

The two neighbouring nations have also agreed to lift “any other restrictions that affect products and services exchanged between the two countries.
