Kenya, Tanzania working on plan to create two more border points

The governments of Kenya and Tanzania are working on a proposal made by citizens from both countries seeking for additional border entry and exit points.

The proposal to create two entry and exit points along Kenya-Tanzania border has been forwarded to the Border Management Secretariats.

Migori County Commissioner Joseph Rotich has confirmed that the two governments through the Border Management Secretariats are already on with the public participation exercise.

Mr. Rotich said the citizens from both countries have proposed additional entry points at Kopanga and Nyamitiro areas to ease their movements across the border.

The county commissioner said after the remaining public participation exercises involving various stakeholders are completed, they will give their final report to the government for consideration.

Mr. Rotich said the locals living around Kopanga and Nyamitiro areas are forced to travel long distances to and from the only available border entry point at Isebania-Sirari.

The county commissioner said establishing entry points at the two proposed locations will be a great relief to many locals and business people from the both countries.

Meanwhile Mr. Rotich has also urged Kenyan doing business and regular visitors to acquire one renewable passport to ease their movement.
