Kenyan coffee attracts foreign investors

Kenyan coffee farmers are set to experience better profits in the previously dwindling trade after foreign investors showed interest in getting supplies from Kenyan mills.

Eight international coffee business operators have expressed interest in purchasing 14 million kilograms from Embu County their millers.

Governor Martin Wambora accompanied by Fisheries and Food authorities (AFFA) representatives led the agents from USA, China, Ukraine, Columbia, Australia, Thailand, Brazil and Canada in a tour across Kavuturi mill, in Embu County where he said the move will facilitate increased coffee production across Embu County as farmers will now be able to fetch better prices from foreign markets.

The governor, however, insisted that he would see to it that farmers produce quality coffee so as to retain the investors and attract more foreign investors.

AFFA Interim director, Grenville Kiplimo, said the country would market its coffee produce through the Coffee Association of America.
