Kenyan earns spot in Guinness Book of records for tossing 17 ping pong balls into a cup in a minute

22-year-old Kenyan Alikhan Kazia is the latest entrant into Guinness World Records.

Alikhan wrote his name into the book of records after managing the most ping pong balls bounced into a cup in one minute.

According to the Guinness Book of records, the table tennis enthusiast bounced 17 ping pong balls into a cup within one minute on May 21, 2021.

In order to be considered for the attempt, he was required to stand a minimum of 2 meters away from the cup and throw the ball into the cup with no assistance from say, a bat. A plastic cup not exceeding 568 ml is also required. Finally, Alikhan was required to use International Table Tennis Federation-approved balls.

His career in Table Tennis kicked off at the tender age of 10. Alikhan would later earn a call-up to the national team within a year of playing. This has seen him attend training in China, France, and Germany.

He was part of the under 16s, representing the country in competitions in Egypt, Congo Brazzaville, and Rwanda.

The youngster’s career highlights transcend multiple school and metropolitan Games. For instance, Alikhan has been the number 1 junior ranked player in U12, U15, and U18 categories. Currently, he is ranked 3rd in the senior player category in the country.

With his latest attempt earning him global recognition in a sport he so loves; it is safe to say his star has only started rising.
