Kenyan man hooks PA system to his bike to sensitize residents about the coronavirus

A Kenyan man has stolen the hearts of Kenyans on social media with his gallant efforts in sensitizing Kenyans on the coronavirus.

The middle-aged Polycarp Wafula, a volunteer blessed with a booming voice, is on the front line in the battle against the spread of the coronavirus in Bungoma where he hails from.

He has fashioned his motorbike into a moving billboard complete with a public address system.

Every day, he leaves his house and hits the street corners making stop-overs every so often to sensitize the people.

“Coronavirus inapatikana sana kwa mikono wakati mtu anapiga chafya, ndio maana serikali imepiga marufuku mikutano (please wash your hands because its the main way in which the virus is spread),” He says

On the front of the bike are two placards on quick facts about the coronavirus and how it is spread from person to person.

“Please make sure if you have a shop, at the entrance have a jerry can of water and soap so that your customers can wash their hands,” He says.

At the same time, Wafula had advised parents against buying their children shareable toys such as whistles and balloons.

He argued that toys such as baloons and whistles will spread the virus from one child to the other when they are swapped.

So far, Kenya has confirmed seven cases of the Covid-19 infection amid calls to Kenyans to be extra vigilant.

The Ministry of health has advised Kenyans to limit their social interactions and seek medical attention if they exhibit any symptoms that may point to a possible infection.

The virus can cause pneumonia-like symptoms. Those who have fallen ill are reported to suffer coughs, fever and breathing difficulties.
