Kenyans come out to defend fishermen detained in Uganda

Kenyans have taken to Twitter to condemn the detention of 22 Kenyan fishermen who were arrested by Ugandan security forces.

The fishermen were arrested while fishing in Lake Victoria near Riabana and Kalangala islands in Uganda about three kilometers from Remba Island in Homa Bay County over the weekend.

The move has solidified regional feud between Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania after Tanzania’s Ministry of Livestock burnt over 6000 chicken they claimed were illegally smuggled from Kenya and seizing 1300 cows by Tanzania.

The border dispute along the Nyanza region islands is a long-term conflict between fishermen from both Uganda and Kenya.

Kenyans are displeased with the situation, including Nairobi lawyer Nelson Havi   Why is CS Amina concerned about 1300 Kenyan refugee cows seeking asylum in Tanzania but mum on 22 Kenyans kidnapped by Ugandan criminals.”

2h2 hours ago   posed a rhetoric of  If more than 22 Kenyans were killed by our own police officers during demos what about those 22 Kenyans held in Uganda?”

Some blaming the situation on lack of governance in the country.
