Kenyans confident in Kenyattas leadership, pollster

A new poll released on Wednesday shows that 84.8 per cent of Kenyans have confidence in the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The polls, released by research firm Strategic Africa, revealed that out of the 84.8 per cent, 40.8 per cent of those interviewed were very confident while 44 per cent were somewhat confident in the President’s leadership.

The polls also showed that 78.3 per cent of Kenyans think the country is headed in the right direction while 19.2 per cent thought otherwise. 2.5 per cent of the respondents did not know.

In a scale of 10, 27.1 per cent of the responded gave President Kenyatta a 10 in how he handled U.S. President Barack Obama’s visit while 16.6 per cent and 18.8 per cent gave him a 9 and an 8 respectively. 2.5 per cent of the respondents gave President Kenyatta a 1/10 on the issue.

Additionally, 71.3 of Kenyans said that President Kenyatta’s handling of corruption was above par (Fair, Good and Very Good), 85.6 were satisfied with his handling of corruption while 71.4 thought the government’s efforts to create jobs was above fair.

The polls also show that the Jubilee government scored highly in foreign relations attaining 65 per cent while 80.6 per cent of Kenyans gave the government above par rating for fostering national unity.

The research was carried out between August 5th and 8th this year and had a sampling error of + or – 2.189 per cent. The sample size was 2004 people from 31 counties in Kenya.
