Kenyans mark Good Friday, reenact Jesus’ crucifixion

Christian faithfuls across the country flocked different places of worship to mark Good Friday; the end of 40 days of fasting and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

In Narok county, Catholics members of St. Joseph Parish Catholic led by Fr. John Nderitu marched 8 kilometers while carrying a cross to commemorate Good Friday.

The Priest urged congregation to remember the less fortunate even after the 40-day lent period .

According to him, Good Friday serves as a reminder of the journey of faith and repentance towards God’s will both in the physical and spiritual.

Elsewhere in Machakos, Bonaventure Musyoki of St. Paul Catholic Parish Matuu called upon faithfuls to repent and help others dubbing it ‘operation fukuza dhambi duniani’.

On his part, Kapsabet ACK Diocese Bishop Paul Kibirech Korir said the State needs to take adequate food to parts of Rift Valley which have experienced acute shortage.

Addressing a congregation at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Bishop Korir cited areas such as Turkana, Baringo, Samburu, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.

He said Christians should be humane despite the Government insisting that no Kenyan has lost his life over food shortage and urged Kenyans to donate food stuffs.
