Kenyans not happy with President Kenyattas all male economic board
Photos showing an “all men” economic advisers team posted on Uhuru Kenyatta official Twitter and Facebook page have touched deeply angered Kenyans on social media.
The photos, depicting high ranking men dressed in sleek suits and ties seated on a round table chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta have touched the nerves of those who feel women are marginalised.
“The meeting met members of my (Uhuru Kenyatta) economic team and partners at National Treasury as we continue with our discussions on accelerating Kenya’s economic transformation,” read the caption.
The women in the economic team Aidah Munano – PS, Housing, Zeinab W Hussein – PS, Gender Affairs and Ruth Kagia – Advisor, Social sectors were in the room were “back benchers” something that did not go down well with others.
In the “front bench” was; CS Fred Matiang’i who heads two ministries, Education and Internal Security, CS Henry Rotich, CS Energy Charles Keter, CS Health Cleophus Mailu,Chief of Staff Joseph Kenywa, CS Transport James Macharia, Treasury PS Kamau Thugge , CS Industrialisation Adan Mohammed among others.
Women who would have been considered on the board are CBK Deputy Governor, Sheila Mbijiwe, CS Foreign Affairs Amina Mohammed CS Public Service Sicily Kariuki , CS Defence Raychelle Omammo, PS foreign Affars Monicah Juma, CS East African Labour and Social Protection Philis Kandie, CS Environment and Natural Resources Judy Wakhungu.
