Kenyans stranded in Indonesia to arrive today

Five Kenyan seafarers stranded for more than an year in Indonesia are expected to arrive in the country on Friday 3rd November 2017.

The five Kenyans, Athaman Mzee Khamisi, Khamisi Mwalimu Mapinga, Vihiri, Tela Hamisi Juma, Imbuga Aggrey Diedie, and Ragunda Yussuf Omari got stranded after their ship,MV Queen Bihanga, sailing from Malaysia developed mechanical problems forcing them to seek refuge in the port of Jakarta.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, Kenya Maritime Authority’s Acting Director General Cosmas Cherop said that the five are safe and are expected at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 11.00 am.

“KMA made the necessary interventions and the five seafarers are expected to arrive back in the country via Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday, 3 November, 2017 at 11.10 am,”  read the statement in part

The five will be received by among others, the Transport Principal Secretary Paul Maringa and the Kenya Maritime Authority’s Acting Director General Cosmas Cherop.
