Kenyas coronavirus caseload hits 94,151

Kenya’s coronavirus caseload has risen to 94,151 after 390 people tested positive in the last 24 hours.

The latest cases are from a sample size of 6,277 bringing the country’s cumulative tests to 1,003,493.

“From the cases, 393 are Kenyans while 37 are foreigners. 265 are males and 125 females. The youngest is a one year old baby, while the oldest is 91,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement on Saturday.

Four people have sucummbed to the disease raising the death toll to 1,633.

Currently there are 844 patients admitted to various hospitals countrywide and 5,916 on the home-based care and isolation program.

“52 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) 24 of whom are on ventilatory support and 25 on supplementary oxygen. 3 are on observation,” the statement adds.

Another 28 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 23 are in general wards. 5 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Distribution of the cases by counties is as follows: Nairobi 103, Mombasa 50, Nakuru 48, Kitui 27, Embu 20, Kilifi 15, Migori 13, Uasin Gishu 12, Laikipia 12, Murang’a 11, Kiambu 10, Isiolo 10, Meru 9, Kakamega 8, Baringo 6, Busia 4, Nandi 4, Machakos 4, Garissa 4, Kisumu 3, Trans Nzoia 3, Siaya 2, Makueni 2, Turkana 2, Taita Taveta 1, Kisii 1, Kirinyaga 1, Nyeri 1, Bungoma 1, Homa Bay 1, Vihiga 1, and Kajiado 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; in Nairobi the 103 cases are from Lang’ata (20), Dagoretti North (14), Kibra (12), Westlands (10), Kasarani (7), Embakasi Central (6), Embakasi West and Makadara (5) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi South, Embakasi East, Kamukunji, Mathare, Roysambu, and Ruaraka (3) cases each, Starehe (2), Embakasi North (1).

In Mombasa the 50 cases are from Mvita (21), Jomvu (11), Nyali (8), Kisauni (6), Changamwe (3) and ükoni (1). In Nakuru the 48 cases are from Naivasha (39), Nakuru West (6), Nakuru East (2) and Gilgil (1).

In Kitui the 27 cases are from Kitui Central (24) and Mwingi Central (3). In Embu all the 20 cases are from Manyaka. In Kilifi the 15 cases are from Kaloleni and Rabai (5) cases each, Kilifi North (4) and Malindi (1).

In Migori the 13 cases are from Nyatike (6), Kuria West and Suna East (3 cases each), Rongo (1). In Uasin Gishu the 12 cases are from Moiben (9), Kapseret (2) and Soy (1). In Laikipia the 12 cases are from Laikipia East (8) and Laikipia West (4).

In Murang’a the 11 cases are from Kiharu (4), Kigumo (3), Kandara and Maragua (2) cases each. In.Kiambu the 10 cases are from Kiambu Town and Kikuyu (3) cases each, Lari (2), Thika and Gatundu South (1) case each. In Isiolo all the 10 cases are from Isiolo Town. In Meru the 9 cases are from Imenti North (6), Igembe North (2) and lgania West (1).

In Kakamega the 8 cases are from Mumias West (6), Kakamega North and Matungu (1) case each. In Baringo, all the 6 cases are from Baringo Central. The 4 cases in Busia are all from Malaba.

The 4 cases in Machakos are from Machakos Town (3) and Athi River (1), the 4 cases in Garissa are from Dadaab (3) and Garissa Town (1) and the 4 cases in Nandi are from Emgwen (3) and Chesumei (1).

In Kisumu the 3 cases are from Kisumu West (2) and Kisumu CenVal (1) while in Trans Nzoia the 3 cases are from Saboti (2) and Kiminini (1). In Siaya the 2 cases are from Alego Usonga and Ugunja (1) case each while in Makueni the 2 cases are from Makueni and Mbooni (1) case each.

The 2 cases in Turkana are from Turkana West. The case in Taita Taveta is from Taveta while the case in Kisii is from Kitutu Chache South.

The case in Kirinyaga is from Kirinyaga Central while the case in Nyeri is from Mukurweini. The case in Bungoma is from Kanduyi, the case in Homa Bay is from Homa Bay Town.

The case in Vihiga is from Vihiga while the one case in Kajiado is from Kajiado North.
