Kenya's coronavirus caseload rises to 96,139 after 147 new cases recorded

The Ministry of Health on  Tuesday announced 147 new coronavirus cases from a sample size of 3,043 tested in the last 24 hours.

The new infections, the Ministry said, push the country’s total case load to 96,139 and the total number of samples tested so far to 1,038,352.

37 of the new cases are Kenyans while 10 are foreigners.

From the cases, 115 are males while 32 are females; the youngest patient is a 1-year-old child while the oldest is 92.

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi 47, Mombasa 27, Makueni 14, Nakuru 12, Murang’a 12, Busia 10, Kiambu 5, Kirinyaga 3, Kisii 3, Kilifi 2, Kajiado 2, Kisumu 2, Kwale 2, Garissa 2, Nyandarua 1, Machakos 1, Turkana 1, Uasin Gishu 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi, the 47 cases are from Lang’ata (7), Embakasi West (5), Embakasi East (4), Dagoretti North, Embakasi South, Kamukunji, Kibra and Westlands (3) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Kasarani, Makadara, Roysambu, Ruaraka and Starehe (2) cases each, Embakasi North and Mathare (1) case each.

In Mombasa, the 27 cases are from Jomvu (13), Kisauni (5), Mvita (4), Changamwe and Likoni (2) cases each, Nyali (1).

In Makueni, all the 14 cases are from Kibwezi West. In Nakuru, the 12 cases are from Naivasha (7), Nakuru East (2), Gilgil, Nakuru West and Rongai (1) case each. In Murang’a, the 12 cases are from Kiharu (11) and Kigumo (1).

In Busia, the 10 cases are from Matayos (6) and Teso North (4). In Kiambu, the 5 cases are from Lari (3), Gatundu South and Thika (1) case each.

In Kirinyaga, the 3 cases are from Kirinyaga Central, Kirinyaga East and Kirinyaga North (1) case each. In Kisii, all the 3 cases are from Kitutu Chache South. In Kilifi, all the 2 cases are from Kilifi North, the 2 cases in Kajiado, are from 2 Kajiado Central and Kajiado east (1) case each. All the 2 cases in Kisumu, are from Kisumu Central, the 2 cases in Kwale, are from Lunga Lunga and Msambweni (1) case each, all the 2 cases in Garissa, are from Dadaab.

The case in Nyandarua, is from Kinangop, the case in Machakos, is from Machakos Town, the case in Turkana, is from Turkana West and the case in Uasin Gishu, is from Ainabkoi.

Kenya’s total recoveries so far have risen to 77,659 after 138 patients recovered from the disease; 126 being from the Home-Based Care Program, while 12 were discharged from various hospitals.

The total number of fatalities has also risen to 1,665 after 1 patient succumbed to the virus.
