Kenyas coronavirus cases jump to 758 as 21 Kenyans test positive

21 Kenyans have tested positive for the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally of confirmed cases to 758.

The new cases are all Kenyan nationals and are from 1486 samples tested in Kenya between Wednesday and Thursday.

Speaking at Afya House on Thursday, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi noted that the new cases include 4 truck drivers who tested positive at the Namanga border.

The confirmed cases are aged between 7 and 79-years-old and include 14 male and 7 female.

The 21 cases are distributed in the country as follows: Mombasa (12), Kajiado (4), Nairobi (4) and Uasin Gishu (1).

In Mombasa, the cases are spread out in the estates as follows: Likoni (5), Mvita (4), Jomvu (2) and Nyali (1).

In Kajiado, the cases are distributed as follows: Namanga border point (3) and Loitoktok (1).

In Nairobi, Eastleigh and Kibra have recorded 2 cases each.

In Uasin Gishu, the single case of coronavirus was recorded in Turbo.

Kenya has also recorded two deaths in Nairobi, bringing the total number of fatalities so far to 42.

At the same time, 3 Kenyans have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the tally of recoveries to 284.
