Kenyas coronavirus cases near 3000 mark as 127 more test positive

127 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kenya bringing the total to 2,989.

Health CAS Rashid Aman said 2,247 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

124 of the new cases are Kenyans while three are foreigners: 84 are male and 33 are female.

The youngest patient is a 3-week-old baby and the oldest is 72 years old.

According to Dr. Aman, 72 frontline health workers have contracted coronavirus: 19 are currently being managed in different facilities.

24 patients have however been discharged bringing the total recoveries to 873.

Nairobi reported 62 cases, Mombasa 34, Busia 14, Machakos 4, Kilifi 4, Kiambu 4, Bungoma 3, Kwale 1 and Uasin Gishu 1.

The cases in Nairobi are distributed as follows:

  • Kibra 21,
  • Westlands 14,
  • Ruaraka 12,
  • Kamukunji 5,
  • Langata 4,
  • Dagoretti North 3,
  • Makadara 1,
  • Embakasi South 1 and
  • Embakasi West 1

Mombasa cases are from Mvita (8), Nyali (7), Changamwe (6), Jomvu (6), Kisauni (4) and Likoni (3).

Busia’s 14 cases are all truck drivers at the Malaba point of entry.

In Kiambu, Thika reported 2 cases while Ruiru and Kikuyu have 1 case each.

Kilifi has two cases reported in Kilifi North, one case in Kilifi South and another in Kaloleni.

Machakos reported 4 cases from Athi River while Uasin Gishu County has one patient from Keses.

Three more people have died from coronavirus bringing the total number of fatalities to 88.
