Kenyas COVID-19 cases cross 25,000-mark as 14 more patients die

Kenya’s COVID-19 cases on Friday crossed the 25,000-mark to hit 25,138 after 727 more patients tested positive for the disease from 6,814 samples tested within the last 24 hours.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, speaking during a tour of Kisii health facilities to establish the county’s preparedness, said the new cases include 711 Kenyans and 16 foreign nationals.

CS Kagwe, while announcing that the 727 cases are composed of 539 males and 188 females, urged men to become more vigilant of the disease and express almost a similar adherence to government directives as women.

The CS also expressed worry at the situation in Nairobi after the county’s capital recorded 393 more infections, urging the city’s residents not to travel outside unless absolutely necessary

He further noted that 674 patients recovered from the disease in the country; 125 of them under home-based care with another 549 discharged from various health facilities, taking the total number of recoveries to 11,118.

14 more patients also succumbed to the disease, taking the tally of fatalities to 413.
