Kenya’s COVID-19 cases rise to 101,944 as 125 people test positive; 7 dead
The Ministry of Health has announced 125 new COVID-19 cases, tested from a sample size of 1,953 in the last 24 hours.
The new infections push Kenya’s total caseload to 101,944 from the 1,216,695 samples tested so far.
From the cases, 72 are Kenyans while 53 are foreigners; 69 are females and 56 are males.
The youngest is a one-year-old child while the oldest is 75.
Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi 94, Kiambu 5, Laikipia 5, Kajiado 3, Kericho 3, Kilifi 3, Kwale 3, Mombasa 2, Nakuru 2, Machakos 1, Nyandarua 1, Kakamega 1, Trans Nzoia 1 and Uasin Gishu 1.
In terms of Sub County distribution; the 94 cases in Nairobi are from Dagoretti North (13), Westlands (12), Kamukunji, Kasarani and Lang’ata (8) cases each, Roysambu (6), Mathare and Starehe (5) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Makadara and Ruaraka (4) cases each, Embakasi Central and Embakasi West (3) cases each, Kibra (2), Embakasi North (1).
In Kiambu the 5 cases are from Kiambu Town (2), Kabete, Kikuyu and Thika (1) case each.
In Laikipia all the 5 cases are from Laikipia East. In Kajiado the 3 cases are from Kajiado North (2) and Kajiado East (1). In Kericho the 3 cases are from Ainamoi (2) and Bureti (1). In Kilifi the 3 cases are from Kilifi North (2) and Malindi (1)
In Kwale the 3 cases are all from Msambweni.
In Mombasa the 2 cases are from Mvita and Nyali (1) case each, while in Nakuru the 2 cases are from Nakuru East and Nakuru West with (1) case each.
The case in Machakos is from Athi River, the case in Nyandarua is from Ol Kalou, the case in Kakamega is from Butere, the case in Trans Nzoia is from Cherangany and the case in Uasin Gishu is from Kapseret.
The Ministry of Health has also announced 112 new recoveries; 84 were from the Home Based Care and Isolation while 28 were discharged from various hospitals.
So far, 84,473 people have recovered from the disease in the country.
Kenya’s total coronavirus death toll has also hit 1,786 after 7 more patients succumbed between Sunday and Monday.
