Kenyas COVID-19 cases rise to 102,613 as 260 test positive

The Ministry of Health on Friday announced 260 new Covid-19 infections in the country, tested from a sample size of 5,873.

The total number of confirmed cases has now hit 102,613 while the total of samples tested so far has hit 1,223, 613.

From the cases; 220 are Kenyans while 40 are foreigners; 141 are male while 119 are female.

The youngest patient is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 87.

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi 131, Baringo 50, Uasin Gishu 10, Machakos 9, Mombasa 8, Kericho 8, Kiambu 8, Kisumu 4, Bungoma 3, Homa Bay 3, Nakuru 3, Laikipia 3, Kajiado 3, Kwale 3, Kilifi 2, Nyeri 2, Turkana 2, Busia 1, Embu 1, Garissa 1, Kitui 1, Lamu 1, Meru 1, Nyandarua 1 and Trans Nzoia 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 131 cases in Nairobi are from Lang’ata (36), Westlands (17), Dagoretti North (10), Kibra and Starehe (8) cases each, Kasarani and Ruaraka (7) cases each, Kamukunji (6), Embakasi South, Embakasi West and Makadara (5) cases each, Embakasi 10 Central, Mathare and Roysambu (4) cases each, Dagoretti South and Embakasi North (2) cases each, Embakasi East (1).

In Baringo, all the 50 cases are from Baringo Central. In Uasin Gishu, the 10 cases are from Ainabkoi (6), Kapseret, Kesses, Moiben and Turbo (1) case each.

In Machakos, the 9 cases are from Athi River (6), Machakos (2) and Kangundo (1).

In Mombasa, the 8 cases are from Kisauni, Mvita and Nyali (2) cases each, Changamwe and Likoni (1) case each.

In Kericho, the 8 cases are from Ainamoi (4), Belgut (3) and Kipkelion East (1).

In Kiambu, the 8 cases are from Ruiru (3), Juja, Kiambu Town, Lari, Limuru and Thika (1) case each.

In Kisumu, the 4 cases are from Kisumu Central (3) and Muhoroni (1).

The 3 cases in Bungoma, are from Kanduyi, Sirisia and Webuye East (1) case each, the 3 cases in Homa Bay, are all from Homa bay Town, the 3 cases in Nakuru, are from 11 Nakuru East, Nakuru North and Nakuru West (1) case each, the 3 cases in Laikipia are from Laikipia West, the 3 cases in Kajiado, are from Kajiado North (2) and Kajiado East (1), while the 3 cases in Kwale, are from Lungalunga (2) and Kinango (1).

According to the Ministry of Health, 83 patients have also recovered form the disease; 58 from the Home Based Isolation and Care and 25 from various hospitals.

Total recoveries now stand at 84,873.

No new Covid-19 death were reported on Friday. Kenya’s total coravirus death toll stands at 1,794
