Kenyas Covid-19 cases rise to 1,745 as 127 more test positive; 4 new deaths recorded

The number of Covid-19 cases in Kenya continues to rise by the day with the total number of infections now hitting 1,745 following confirmation of 127 cases on Friday.

The 127 new cases were confirmed following the testing of 3,831 samples over the last 24 hours.

In a press briefing on Friday, Health Ministry CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi also announced that four more patients had succumbed to the coronavirus disease raising the total number of fatalities in the country to 62. All the four deaths were recorded in Mombasa.

17 more patients have also been discharged bringing the number of recoveries so far to 438.

The new cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (76), Mombasa (19), Busia (16), Uasin Gishu (8), Kiambu (2), Kajiado (5) and Isiolo (1).

In Nairobi, Kibra had the highest number of cases at 49, followed by Ruaraka (13), Makadara (4), Westlands (4), Langata (2), with Embaksi West, Kasarani, Dagoretti North and Starehe recording one case each.

The 19 cases in Mombasa are distributed as follows: Kisauni (7), Mvita (6), Nyali (3), Likoni (2) and Jomvu (1).

Out of the 16 cases in Busia, 8 are at Busia, 2 at Malaba Points of Entry, and 6 at Alupe Quarantine Facility.

The 8 cases in Uasin Gishu are all from Turbo, while in Kajiado, the cases are from Kajiado North (2) and Namanga Border (3). In Kiambu, the two cases are from Kiambu Town (1) and Kabete (1).

The case in Isiolo is from Isiolo Town.

So far the country has tested 74,003 samples.
