Kenyas COVID-19 cases rise to 28,754 as 650 more test positive

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 28,754 on Thursday after 650 more people tested positive for the corona virus following testing of 5,768 samples.

The new cases include 631 Kenyans and 17 foreigners and are aged between 1-97 years.

In the daily briefing on the status of the pandemic in the country, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi also announced that four more people had succumbed to the virus raising the death toll to 460.

At the same time, 490 more people recovered from the disease bringing the number of recoveries so far to 15,100.

Out the 490 recoveries, 308 of them were under the home based care programme while 182 had been discharged from various hospitals in the country.

The distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 356, Kiambu 53, Nakuru 48, Machakos 26, Kajiado 20, Busia 20, Uasin Gishu 15, Laikipia 15, Bomet 10, Bungoma 9, Migori 7, Mombasa 7, Kisii 7, Tharaka Nithi 6, Muranga 5, Narok 5, Turkana 5, Kericho 4, Makueni 4, Kitui 4, Samburu 4, Embu 3, Baringo 3, Nandi 3, Kisumu 2, Mandera 2, Marsabit 2, Isiolo 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Nyamira 1, Elgeyo Marakwet 1 and Nyeri 1.
