Kenyas COVID-19 cases rise to 92,055 as 163 test positive; 6 deaths recorded

The Ministry of Health on Monday announced that 163 people tested positive for COVID-19 from a sample size of 2,283 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 92,055 the number of confirmed infections in the country.

From the cases, 156 are Kenyans while 7 are foreigners; 84 are males and 79 females while the youngest is a one-year-old infant and the oldest is 88.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to the press, said 424 patients recovered from the coronavirus – 378 from the Home Based Care Program while 46 were discharged from various hospitals – taking total recoveries to 73,452.

CS Kagwe however noted that 6 patients also succumbed to the disease, bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,593.

Distribution of the 163 cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 94, Kiambu 15, Homa Bay 8, Uasin Gishu 7, Nakuru 6, Machakos 4, Murang’a 3, Kisumu 3, Trans Nzoia 3, Mombasa 2, Kajiado 2, Meru 2, Laikipia 2, Kakamega 2, Isiolo 1, Makueni 1, Bungoma 1, Migori 1, Nyandarua 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, Kirinyaga 1, Embu 1, Narok 1 and Vihiga 1.

The 94 cases in Nairobi are from Lang’ata (11), Starehe and Westlands (10) cases each, Kibra (9), Ruaraka (8), Embakasi Central (7), Embakasi East and Makadara (6) cases each, Embakasi West and Kasarani (5) cases each, Roysambu (4), Dagoretti North, Kamukunji, and Mathare (3) cases each, Embakasi North (2), Dagoretti South and Embakasi South (1) case each.

In Kiambu, the 15 cases are from Ruiru (5), Thika (4), Githunguri and Kiambu Town (2) cases each, Juja and Kikuyu (1) case each. In Homa Bay, the 8 cases are from Kabondo Kasipul (5) and Hombay Town (3).

In Uasin Gishu, the 7 cases are from Ainabkoi (4), Kapseret, Kesses and Turbo (1) case each. In Nakuru, the 6 cases are from Nakuru East (5) and Rongai (1).

In Machakos, the 4 cases are from Athi River (3) and Machakos Town (1). The 3 cases in Murang’a, are from Gatanga, Kiharu and Maragua (1) case each, all the 3 cases in Kisumu, are from Kisumu Central while the 3 cases in Trans Nzoia, are from Saboti (2) and Kiminini (1).

The 2 cases in Mombasa are from Kisauni and Nyali (1) case each, the 2 cases in Kajiado are from Kajiado East and Kajiado North with (1) case each, the 2 cases in Meru are from Imenti North and Imenti South with (1) case each, the 2 cases in Laikipia are all from Laikipia East and the 2 cases in Kakamega are all from Lurambi.

The case in Isiolo is from Isiolo Town, the case in Makueni is from Kibwezi West, the case in Bungoma is from Kanduyi, the case in Migori is from Suna East, the case in Nyandarua is from 0l Kalou and the case in Tharaka Nithi is from Chuka.

The case in Kirinyaga is from Kirinyaga Central, the case in Embu is from Runyenjes, the case in Narok is from Narok East and the case in Vihiga is from Vihiga.
