Kenyas COVID-19 positivity rate at 13.9pc, 847 new cases reported

The Ministry of Health has reported 847 new COVID-19 infections in the country, based on a sample size of 6,080 people tested in the last 24 hours.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health on Saturday, the new infections, which have an 13.9 percent positivity rate, bring the total number of confirmed positive cases to 196,757 and the total number of samples tested to 2,087,582.

Nairobi had the most new infections (397), while Busia came in second with 66.

River 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Embu 1, Kakamega 1, Kisii 1 and Kwale 1.

722 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, with 567 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 155 are from various health facilities countrywide.

At the same time, the total number of deaths from the disease has risen to 3,849following the report of 11 new deaths on Friday.

According to the Health Ministry, one of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, while 10 are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of July 2021
