Kenyas COVID-19 positivity rate at 9.9pc,536 new cases recorded

The Ministry of Health announced 536 new COVID-19 infections on Saturday, tested from a sample of 6,036 people in the last 24 hours.

The new infections have a positivity rate of 8.9 percent and push the total number of confirmed positive cases to 188,513 and the total number of samples tested to 2,012,698.

Today 536 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 6,036 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 8.9%.

“From the cases 518 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners,” the Ministry of Health said on Saturday “ “274 are males and 262 females.”

The youngest patient is a four-month-old infant while the oldest is 90 years.

Across the county, the new cases are spread out as follows: Nairobi 186, Busia 50, Uasin Gishu 39, Nakuru 30, Nyeri 22, Mombasa 19, Taita Taveta 18, Nandi 17, Kericho 16, Siaya 15, Migori 12, Kisumu 12, Kilifi 11, Laikipia 10, Nyamira 9, Kajiado 8, Kiambu 7, Vihiga 6, Nyandarua 5, Kakamega 5, Turkana 5, Baringo 4, Bungoma 4, Tana River 4, Murang’a 4, Bomet 3, Homa Bay 3, Embu 2, Kirinyaga 2, Kwale 2, Machakos 2, Narok 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, Garissa 1 and Kitui 1.

Meanwhile, 336 patients have recovered from the disease in the last one day.

“236 are from various health facilities countrywide while 100 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program,” the Ministry of Health said.

The total recoveries now stand at 178,119.

At the same time, the total number of fatalities has hit 3,071 following 3 new deaths reported on Saturday.

All the deaths were late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in July 2021.
