Kenyas cumulative COVID-19 tests cross 1million mark

Kenya’s cumulative COVID-19 tests now stand at 1,008,518.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said out of the 5,025 tested in the last 24 hours, 349 people have tested positive for the virus.

This brings to 94,500 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country.

From the latest cases, 334 are Kenyans while 15 are foreigners. 230 are males and 119 females. The youngest is an 11-month old infant, while the oldest is 98.

Distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 156, Nyeri 34, Kirinyaga 30, Meru 27., Uasin Gishu 25, Nombasa 17, Kiambu 15, Busia 13, Nandi 7, Murang’a 6, Nyandarua 4, Machakos 3, Garissa 2, Kisii 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Tharaka Nithi 1, Turkana 1, Kajiado 1, Nakuru 1, Embu 1and Laikipia 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution, in Nairobi the 156 cases are from Lang’ata (74), Dagoretti North and Kibra (12) cases each, Westlands (9), Embakasi West and Roysambu (6) cases each, Embakasi Central, Kasarani, Mathare and Ruaraka (5) cases each, Embakasi South and Makadara (4) cases each, DagoreRi South (3), Kamukunji and Starehe (2) cases each, Embakasi East and Embakasi North (1) case each.

In Nyeri the 34 cases are from Nyeri Central (31) and Mathira East (3). In Kirinyaga the 30 cases are from Kirinyaga South (18), Kirinyaga Central (7), Kirinyaga West (3) and Kirinyaga East (2). In Meru the 27 cases are from Imenti Nolh (21) and Imenti Central (6). In Uasin Gishu the 25 cases are from Ainabkoi (18), Turbo
(6) and Kesses (1).

In Mombasa, Qe 17 cases are from Kisauni and Mvita (5) cases each, úyali (3), Jomvu (2), Changamwe and Likoni (1) case each. In Kiam“bu the 15 cases are from JUja (6), Kiambu Town and Ruiru (2) cases each, Githunguri, Kiambaa, Kikuyu, Lari and Thika (1) case each.

In Busia the 13 cases are from Ma@yos (11) and Teso South (2). In Nandi all the 7 cases are from Emgwen. In Murang’a the 6 cases are from Kiharu (4), Kandara and Maragua (1) case each.

In Nyandarua all the 4 cases are from Kinangop. In Machakos the 3 cases are from Athi River, Machakos Town and Masinga (1) case each. The 2 cases in Garissa are from Garissa Town, the 2 cases in Kisii are from Kitutu Chache South and the 2 cases in Trans Nzoia are from Kiminini.

The case in Tharaka Nithi is from Chuka, the case in Turkana is from Turkana Central, the case in Kajiado is from Kajiado East, the case in Nakuru is from Nakuru East, the case in Embu is from Manyatta and the case in Laikipia is from Laikipia East.

On Sunday, 176 patients are reported to have recovered from the disease: 155 from the Home-Based Care Program and 21 discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 75,735.

Six patients however succumbed to the disease bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,639.

Currently there are 831 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 5,834 on Home Based Isolation and Care.

52 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 25 of whom are on ventilatory support and 24 on supplemental oxygen. 3 are on observation.

Another 28 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of whom 23 are in the general wards. 5 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
