Kenyatta: Kenya a hotbed of thriving culture

President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that Kenya is a hotbed of thriving culture and spectacular natural beauty.

Speaking when he co-hosted the 6th Global Entrepreneurship Summit with US President Barack Obama, Kenyatta asked entrepreneurs at the summit to go and tell others what they had seen in Kenya.

“We are at the beginning of a great journey,” said President Kenyatta.

The Head of State noted that though the African continent continues to face major challenges, the economies of Africa are the fastest growing.

“Africa is ready and open for business,” stated Kenyatta amid applause. “It is time to promote prosperity.”

Kenyatta noted that Africa’s relationship with the rest of the world was that of mutual benefit.

“We are aligned to progress,” said the head of state.

Kenyatta did not shy away from speaking on the terror attack that claimed over 67 people in the September 2013 Westgate mall terror attack, saying that Kenyans are a brave and resilient people.

“We recorded more sales on the first day of the opening of the Westgate mall,” said the President.

“We were able to rise above our pain and resolved we have to keep on moving forward.”

The world’s foremost business leaders are converging at the United Nations office in Gigiri for the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).

The GES will be a marketplace of ideas for selected entrepreneurs who will have a chance to engage with the best brains in global business, private equity investment and business start-ups.

By doing this, the US government hopes to spark Sh100 billion in new private investments over the next three years for entrepreneurs worldwide.
