Kenyatta: Let Us End Hate Speech, Tribalism
The President asked Kenyans to end hate speech and tribalism which he said were rampant in the country.
"It is unfortunate that we do the opposite of what we have been told here today" The President said
The President added “Let us always do the right thing,”
The President was speaking during the 12th National Prayer Breakfast that was held at Safari Park Hotel on Thursday.
He said if only everyone implemented what was said during the prayers, Kenya would prosper
Among those who attended the function was Deputy President William Ruto, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and his Senate counterpart Ekwe Ethuro among others
Addressing the gathering, Deputy President William Ruto told Kenyans that there was strength in diversity
He said despite the different religions, Kenya can progress if only they prayed together.
"A house that prays together, stays together" Ruto said
He added, "Never again should we visit violence on one another"
The Deputy President said violence was a route that should never be taken again.
The guest speaker during the national prayers was former US ambassador to Kenya Scott Gration who said the war against terror can only be won if there were concerted efforts
"We regard kenya as door to Africa" said Gration
He urged Kenyans to embrace servant leadership and uphold integrity at all times because Kenya is an important nation to Africa and the rest of the world.
