Kenyatta opens Pre-Global Entrepreneurship Summit Expo

President Uhuru Kenyatta Wednesday morning presided over the official opening of the Pre-Global Entrepreneurship Summit Expo 2015 at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The Pre-Global Entrepreneurship Summit Expo will present the entrepreneurs with an opportunity to exhibit their ideas and ventures as well as network with the best business minds around the world.

Kenya was chosen to host the Sixth Global Entrepreneurship Summit which will be co-hosted by U.S. President Barack Obama and his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday.

Kenya is now the first sub-saharan African country to host the meeting.

The GES will be a marketplace of ideas for selected entrepreneurs who will have a chance to engage with the best brains in global business, private equity investment and business start-ups.

By doing this, the U.S. government hopes to spark 100 billion shillings in new private investments over the next three years for entrepreneurs worldwide.

Half of these investments will be generated by women and young entrepreneurs.

Last week, billionaire businessman and industrialist, Dr. Chris Kirubi termed the forthcoming Sixth Global Entrepreneurship Summit as a major endorsement to Kenya’s economy.

Kirubi said the summit signals growing international confidence in Kenya’s economy, saying Kenyans should now take a more positive and pro-active stance towards the country’s growth and development.
