Kenyatta Pitching For JAP In Meru

The tour that started Friday, saw the President open the Meru-Mariba-Nkubu-Mitunguu and Imenti-Kionyo-Chogoria-Ndagene Loop roads.

President Kenyatta re-assured Kenyans of the Jubilee government’s determination to ensure all genuine land owners get title deeds.

President Kenyatta said title deeds will no longer be a campaign tool to be used for political mileage during the electioneering period.

The President was speaking at Kiirua Trading Centre in Buuri Sub-County where he issued title deeds to residents.

The Head of State said the government will issue 800,000 title deeds to land owners in Meru County in the next two years.

He said the national and county governments will work together in resolving land problems across the country.

The President, who is also on an inspection tour of development projects, said the Jubilee government will support upgrading of major towns in the country to attract investors and create jobs for the youth.

SUPREMACY BATTLE

Kenyatta, and his deputy William Ruto, have asked affiliate parties under the Jubilee banner to fold and join their 2017 political vehicle, the Jubilee Alliance Party of Kenya (JAP).

The two said say it is time all parties unite under one political party.

While the battle for supremacy for the entire Meru region rages, the President appealed to leaders in the region to put their differences aside and find common ground to work together.

There has been discord over leadership in the region, largely emanating from Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties.

Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki was recently installed as an elder of the Njuri Ncheke and given the blessing to seek the deputy presidency of the country, a move that did not go well with Meru County leaders Senator Kiraitu Murungi and Governor Peter Munya.

The President’s visit is said to be keen on calming this storm, the resolve of which will only be left to the hands of time.
