Kenyatta University finally gets VC after two-year wait

Kenyatta University’s Prof. Paul Wainaina has finally taken over as the 6th Vice Chancellor of the institution after the government approved six acting VCs from different public universities in Kenya.

After a long two-year wait, Professor Wainaina finally started his first day in office on Tuesday, February 13 and was welcomed by the university fraternity.

Professor Wainaina took over as the Vice Chancellor in an acting capacity after the retirement of the former VC Olive Mugenda in March 2016.

Taking to the podium, a visibly elated Prof. Wainaina thanked the university leadership for the support he received in his record two years of acting as a VC.

He reiterated that improving the quality of education and staff welfare would be top on his agenda.

Prof. Paul Wainaina was among the acting Vice Chancellors confirmed in six public universities last week.
