Kerich appointed Media Council chair

The Star Newspaper Managing Editor Charles Kerich has today been appointed the new Media Council Chairperson replacing Peter Wakoli.

In a statement to newsrooms, ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru also named seven other members to sit in the council.

Four candidates including Isaiah Kibet, Grace Mwendwa and Prof. Levi Obonyo had been shortlisted for the post of Media Council chairman.

Other appointments made include Godfrey Wanyonyi as Nzoia Sugar Company’s New Managing Director. 

Agriculture, livestock and fisheries Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett also appointed Prof. James Njiru as Managing Director at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute and Margaret Rugut as Managing Director of the Kenya Dairy Board.

The CS further appointed Azaria Bartai Soi as the new Kenya Seed Company MD.

Elsewhere Edwin Gichangi takes up appointment as Director of the Kenya Cultural Centre.

Their appointment takes effect immediately for a period of three years.
