Kericho County to benefit from biotechnology center

Kericho County is set to benefit from the International Tissue Research Center that is set to be constructed in the area to embrace bio-technology.

This is according to Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony.

Speaking during an open forum on Agricultural Biotechnology, Kenya Chapter at the Center for Tea Research Institute in Kericho, Chepkwony said the Center will not only provide employment to youth in the area but will also be an exporter of seedlings to the world.

Chepkwony challenged youth in the country to invest in land and agriculture.

Other guests at the function  included Dr. Dan Kiambi and Dr.Faith Nguthi who are leading the project.

The two said that Kenya stands a better chance to become a global leader in biotechnology in the already competitive market.

Deputy President William Ruto has in the recent past supported the GMO foods citing the ever growing technology.
