Kericho Deputy Governor Susan Kikwai laid to rest

Kericho Deputy Governor Susan Kikwai was laid to rest on Tuesday at her father’s farm in Tugunon village, Kipkelion East Constituency.

Area Governor Paul Chepkwony and other leaders paid glowing tributes to the deceased. He said she served the county well and lauded her for the loyalty and dedication to her work.

According to him, she was passionate about the welfare of the people of Kericho County and always strived to ensure that all the projects which were initiated were completed.

Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot appealed to both the national and the county governments halt non-essential projects and channel resources towards the fight against coronavirus.

He also urged government agencies tasked with procurement of COVID-19 vaccines to ensure that they get enough doses for all Kenyans.

Belgut MP Nelson Koech urged Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) in Kericho to channel more resources to the health sector as there is an acute shortage of ICU beds and isolation facilities.

Koech also asked the government to channel efforts towards fighting the virus which is reported to be spreading fast at the community level.

Area Woman Representative Florence Bore called on Kenyans to continue observing the COVID-19 regulations as a way of managing further spread of the virus.

Ainamoi MP Sylvanus Maritim said county residents should not be reluctant in getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

He said there is need to demystify myths surrounding the vaccine as it has been confirmed to be safe.

The late Susan Kikwai passed on at the age of 62 at Siloam Hospital after succumbing to COVID-19 complications.
